Welcome to Thornton Santa
Thornton Santa is an organisation run by the Rotary Club of North Fylde, which is based in Thornton Cleveleys and meets at the Briardene Hotel each Wednesday night. If you want more details of the Rotary Club of North Fylde, see here
The sleigh was originally built and donated by a member of Thornton Cleveleys Round Table in 2007 and it was run by them until 2014 when the Club was forced to close due to the lack of membership numbers. As Christmas is such a very special time for children, funds raised by Thornton Santa have been targeted to Children’s charities and include Brian House, Alder Hey, Barnardos (N Fylde) and Victoria Hospital Children’s Unit.
In 2014 the Rotary Club of North Fylde stepped-in to continue the excellent work of Thornton Santa ably assisted by many ex members of Thornton Cleveleys Round Table and for up to seven freezing cold nights immediately prior to Christmas, Thornton Santa can be seen on the streets of Thornton Cleveleys, visiting the children of the area.
We have been delighted with the reception, which the Thornton Cleveleys neighbourhoods have welcomed us and seeing the faces of the community makes all the planning and preparation well worthwhile.
Without your support, none of this would be possible. A big thank you from Thornton Santa
At this point, it is worthwhile saying that no deductions whatsoever from these collections and members donate their time and expenses free of charge, for the benefit of the community and the charities they support.
Make sure that all you children are tucked up good and early on Christmas eve and leave Santa a mince pie and a small drink to help him on his way – and don’t forget Rudolf and his friends (they like carrots)!
